Blueberry Banana Smoothie

This is a great smoothie to try if you want to sneak in some spirulina powder, but don’t want to taste it!

Ingredients:

  1. 2 frozen bananas
  2. 1 cup frozen blueberries
  3. 2 tsp. spirulina powder
  4. 1 cup rice milk
  5. 1 cup water
  6. 1 tsp. vanilla extract

Blend well and enjoy! Serves: 2

Raw Banana-Ginger Zinger

If you’re trying to cut back on sweets, drink this smoothie for dessert. It’s light, refreshing, creamy and ideal for those of you who love ginger!

Ingredients:

  1. 2 frozen bananas
  2. 2 dates, seeded & soaked in 1 cup water
  3. 1 tbsp. ginger, minced
  4. 1 tbsp. organic coconut oil
  5. dash of cinnamon
  6. 1-2 ice cubes

Place bananas and dates and soaked water in blender. Add ginger, coconut oil, cinnamon and ice cubes. Blend until smooth and creamy!

Breadfruit is surprising! It can be baked like flour. This “pie” was an unexpected delight-sweet, naturally wheat-free and organically yummy.

Ingredients:

  1. 1 1/2 cups breadfruit
  2. 2 bananas
  3. 1/4 cup macadamia nuts, chopped
  4. 4 dates, seeded & chopped
  5. 1 tsp. baking soda
  6. 2 tbsp. dried coconut shreds
  7. 1 tsp. water

Directions:

  • Heat the oven to 350 degrees.
  • Mix and mash everything in a mixing bowl.
  • Lightly oil a bread pan.
  • Pour mixture into bread pan
  • Bake for 40-45 minutes.

Tropical Sunrise Smoothie

I absolutely adore making smoothies-especially in this tropical paradise where fruits are everywhere and cooling foods so appealing. To make a good smoothie, all you need is a decent blender and fresh ingredients. For the tropical sunrise smoothie, you will need:

  1. 1 cup freshly squeezed orange juice
  2. 1 large frozen banana or 2 small ones
  3. 1 cup frozen papaya chunks
  4. 2 tsp. flax seeds
  5. 1 tbsp. coconut, shredded
  6. 1 cup rice or almond milk

serves: 2

Blend all ingredients in a blender and sip ’til you have a lazy tropical smile on your face!
